This spring, we are doing our formal 5K at one of the biggest 5K events in Terrebonne Parish, The Courier Presents the 5K Run for Excellence and Cajun Food Festival benefitting the Terrebonne Foundation of Academic Excellence!

This event is May 11th in downtown Houma.

We are so looking forward to this “graduation event” of our girls! Stop by our Girls on the Run tent to say “Hi!” we’ll be the ones in pink this year!

Our 1st Annual Reindeer Run benefiting Girls on the Run Houma-Terrebonne was a tremendous success. The culmination of the Girls on the Run Fall program was unforgettable and we’d like to thank all those who invested so much of their time and talent in it. We’d also like to thank all our 5K Sponsors and the community who came out to celebrate this accomplishment with our girls.

For our Spring 5K we’ll be attending the Annual 5K run benefitting the Terrebonne Foundation of Academic Excellence, however we are planning our second annual Reindeer Run in the fall of 2012.

We are excited to kick off the Christmas season in Terrebonne Parish with the 1st Annual Reindeer Run benefiting Girls on the Run Houma-Terrebonne. The Reindeer Run is a 5K event that will take place on December 3, 2011 at Renaissance Family Fitness. The race begins at 9:00 am with a “Ho, Ho, Ho…GO!” start by Santa. It is the culmination of the Girls on the Run Fall program and we invite the entire community to come out and celebrate this accomplishment with the girls.

The 1st Annual Reindeer Run is an event for everyone of all ages, from serious runners to recreational walkers. In addition to the 5K race, we will have many fun activities for the entire family. Along with post-race food, drinks, and music, we will have photos with Santa, face painting, balloon art, bounce houses, a “happy hair” station, craft activities and much more!

The holiday cheer will continue with a costume contest at 10:30 am. Prizes will be awarded to best individual costume, best pair costume, and best group of up to 8.

While there will be a time clock at the finish line, the 1st Annual Reindeer Run is a non-competitve event. This means that every finisher will receive a medal! This is an event to celebrate the girls’ accomplishments and enjoy community.

All proceeds from the Reindeer Run 5K will provide scholarship and program opportunities through Girls on the Run to young girls in Terrebonne Parish.
